Weber State University: An All-Steinway School
Weber State University is proudly an All-Steinway School. Presently, WSU has 41 Steinway and Boston (by Steinway) pianos, including three Steinway Model “D” 9 foot Concert Grands. The facilities for the Music School’s Piano Studies Program are located in the new Browning Center for the Performing Arts, and the practice rooms are all equipped with Steinways. WSU has a dynamic, versatile, and winning faculty who are dedicated to the success of their students.

Sean Steiner
Adjunct Faculty
Mr. Steiner is currently an adjunct faculty member for Weber State University as a piano teacher. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Eastman School of Music. He has been an adjudicator for many piano competitions held in the Salt Lake Valley.
Ralph van der Beek
Associate Professor
Keyboard Studies
Professor van der Beek is in high demand as a teacher, presenter, and adjudicator. His students have won many competitions and earned scholarships to prestigious music schools across the U.S. He previously taught at Utah State University.
Shijun Wang
Professor
Professor Wang teaches piano majors and non-major students, as well as being part of the Preparatory Piano Program at Weber State. He is known as a solo pianist and orchestral soloist all over the world. He has won many national and internationals competitions and prizes. He has studied with world-renowned performers, such as Alfred Brendel, Emmanuel Ax, and Richard Goode.
Yu-Jane Yang
Presidential Distinguished Professor
Dr. Yang is the Director of Keyboard Studies, as well as the Director of the Piano Preparatory Program. She is the pianist for the Wasatch Piano Trio, the Weber State Faculty Piano Trio, and the Formosan Violin-Piano Duo. Dr. Yang has performed and toured all over the world. She is a sought-after lecturer and presenter for many national conferences and conventions, as well as clinician and masterclass presenter, both nationally and internationally. She is a frequent adjudicator for the Gina Bachauer piano competition. She has won many awards for her teaching, scholarship, research, and service. Her students have been top prize-winners nationally and internationally, and have been accepted into prestigious music schools, such as Julliard and the Cleveland Institute of Music.

12 Practice rooms available – 4 are for piano majors only, the other 8 are for all music/musical theatre students. It is also possible for students to reserve classroom space if needed on a one-time basis.
